The announcement by Magners that it will support the league for the next three years is an extremely positive step and has been welcomed by the officials of the Ulster Branch.
Provincial Domestic Game Manager at the Ulster Branch, David Boyd said:
“The Junior League is the most inclusive of all Ulster Branch competitions. There are 57 teams participating and they represent 50 clubs. It is fitting therefore that this league should attract such a prestigious sponsor as Magners and we are very pleased to welcome them as sponsors of this ‘seed bed’ of domestic rugby”.
Simon Wallace Commercial Manager of Ulster Rugby also commented:
“I am delighted to announce that Magners has agreed to sponsor the Junior League for the next 3 years. Their backing of the Junior League has given a massive boost to grassroots rugby in Ulster and in doing so they now have an affinity with both professional and domestic rugby in Ulster. We look forward to developing these relationships over the coming seasons”.
Paul McGurk Brand Manager for Magners Original Cider said:
Magners welcomes the opportunity to support through the Ulster Branch the sponsorship of this most important domestic competition: the Junior League. The involvement with the amateur side of Ulster rugby allows us to support the game of rugby on a province-wide basis.
“This competition offers a showcase for participation in a way that adds to the life blood of Ulster Rugby”.
“The recent announcement that Magners has extended its sponsorship of the Magners League until May 2009 and the three year commitment to the newly named Magners Junior League is our evidence that the brand identifies with rugby at grassroots and representative levels”.
