MAGNERS GREAT BRITAIN
Orchard Workers Campaign
"I think himself and meself could be the ‘time factor’ in all this"
Take one cranky mini-disc recorder. Take two lifetime friends and colleagues. And listen. Listen to Master Cider Maker, Michael O’Donnell and Head Orchard Keeper Thomas White - our Magners heroes with about 80 working years in the orchards and the vathouse between them and about 80 million and one tales of ‘Time dedicated to Magners, the Irish cider that was created by William Magner, in Clonmel County Tipperary in 1935.
Serious about tradition, self-effacing about themselves, devoted to the hundreds of acres of orchard, the cycle of the seasons, the maturation and production of a superior cider and the pride in a company that has taken their local hometown cider to the world stage.
This series of interviews formed the starting point for the new Magners Irish Cider ‘Orchard Workers’ campaign, knitted together with music for radio, weaved together with portraits and landscapes of local people and local places for press and outdoor. This is Magners past, this is Magners present and undoubtedly Magners future because as Michael confirms: "I think the company won’t ever forget its roots"
