Magners Irish Cider extends sponsorship of London Wasps
26th March 2007
Magners Irish Cider announced today (Monday 26th March 2007) that it has extended its sponsorship of London Wasps for a further two years. The renewed agreement will see Magners continue as Main Sponsor of the Club until May 2009.
The sponsorship deal began in 2005, coinciding with the launch of Magners Irish Cider in the London area. Over the two years the Club and Magners have worked closely together on several marketing initiatives including advertising campaigns, match day experiences and national and regional PR campaigns in order to build the fans loyalty to London Wasps and increase exposure for both Magners and the Club.
On the pitch, London Wasps successes have included winning the Anglo Welsh Cup in 2006 and the Middlesex Sevens at the start of the 2006-7 season. With eight current internationals involved in the 2007 Six Nations Championship, London Wasps created history by providing the entire England back row for their final Six Nations game of the tournament.
The renewal of the London Wasps sponsorship continues the development of Magners existing involvement in rugby. As well as being main sponsor of Edinburgh Rugby, the brand is also the inaugural title sponsor of the Magners League.
Maurice Breen, Marketing Director of WM Magners said:
"We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with London Wasps, one of the most successful clubs in the Premiership. Their consistent high performance and passion are a fantastic fit with our vision to promote Magners Irish Cider as a premium product. We work hard to support the sponsorship and will be looking to achieve even more together over the next couple of years."
Peter Scrivener, Commercial Director of London Wasps added:
"Everyone at Wasps is excited that Magners has committed to the club for a further two years and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership. We enjoy a very close relationship and work hard together on a daily basis to ensure that both parties are maximising the potential of the sponsorship."
