EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe today announced a new sponsor partnership with Magners Irish Cider that will see the two organisations work together to deliver a great Festival Fringe in 2006.

Magners Irish Cider is to sponsor two Fringe initiatives, the first being the highly visible and infamous Fringe Venue Boards. This iconic signage appears all over Edinburgh during August, alerting Fringe goers to the location of some 250 venues across the city in 2006. With the Fringe’s reputation for unusual venues, these locations in the past have included hotel rooms, pubs, shops and even a lift!

In addition to this, Magners will also sponsor the joint Edinburgh Festivals map – the ultimate guide to help find an Edinburgh Festival venue and allow visitors to find a film, a book reading and a Fringe show all in the same day.

Magners was introduced into Scotland in 2003, and has quickly established itself as a favourite drink with festival goers who enjoy the unique and refreshing taste of the iconic Pint Bottle poured over mounds of fresh ice. Magners already enjoys a high profile around the capital through team and shirt sponsorship of Edinburgh Rugby Club and the recent sponsorship announcement of the Magners Scottish Club Golfers Championship.

Paul Gudgin, Director of the Fringe, said “It’s with great pleasure that we welcome this partnership with Magners Cider. Magners has made a real impact in Scotland in the past couple of years with great advertising and a premium quality product. The awareness and profile of the brand in the drinks market make it a perfect fit for the Fringe. ”

Joanne Hayden, Marketing Manager for Magners said, “Magners enjoys fantastic support from consumers in Scotland all year round and the Fringe partnership is a great fit with Magners as it increases our presence in Scotland for the month of August, and is a key summer month for consumers to relax and enjoy the cool and refreshing taste of Magners over ice as they soak up the atmosphere of the Fringe.

As Magners rolls out across the UK we believe that this new partnership with The Fringe will help build awareness and brand profile with national and international visitors to the Edinburgh Festival.”

The 60th Fringe takes place from 6th-28th August 2006.

Tickets for this years Fringe will be available from June 12 on 0131 226 0000 or online at www.edfringe.com.
